Week 12 Progress

Main idea of the gallery design

 1. Inhabitants should be able to see the sculptures on ground floor
 2. Inhabitants should be able to see the garden in all directions through a glass panel; adequate solar access into the interior

Main concept and schematic design of the garden

1. Some important issues to deal with in the garden
- Good views to the Sydney CBD
- Excessive sunlight from west
-Access of pleasant sunlight from north
-Area for seatings
-Variation of appropriate vegetation

Research and a few selections of the vegetation

A draft photo-montage of the garden

Some concept diagrams, 1:100 plans and a long section

About the site

A site plan I tried to make today showing the urban grids in the area

The green zones in the area. Actually there are quite many green zones and parks in the area but not in the center, not near to our site. I'm thinking maybe... to produce an architecture that brings a green life to the urban context...? Not only a small garden that occupies 1/3 of the site but 3/4. Or may be the whole area...?

Site Visit 8.5.2012

The site for our Project 3 is located on the 123 Victoria Street which is currently occupied by an Italian restaurant, Mezzaluna. Here are some sketches I have produced today. The site visit has taken for 4 3.5 hours but it still seems like not enough time. The sketches are too rough and dont have much detailed information..... :(   Probably I will go there again on Friday or weekend... Hopefully I can produce more better sketches.......

The first sketch produced. My first glance 123 Victoria St. To show the scale, I've included my friend Christine inside. :)

View from the site to the Butler Stairs which is a backpacker's hotel.

What I've come up with the view from the site to the Butler Stairs are colours. Different colours have been merged into a colour panel.

Project 2

* Due to the limitation of Blogger, all the images here have been down-sized in order to fit its requirement.  Thus they are not in the actual scale!

Some photos of the model

Progress...!!!
This is how I started with the examination of the proportion system of windows through different readings, colourings, sketches and calculations.

This is where I began with my watercolour drawing on the perspective section showing the normal activities, colours and materials in Villa Muller.
